Manual Lymphatic Drainage For the Win

The study of Manual Lymphatic Drainage began in the 1930’s when doctors noticed that many patients in the hospitals had swollen lymph nodes.

Lymph nodes are small structures that work as filters for harmful substances. They contain immune cells that can help fight infection by attacking and destroying germs that are carried in through the lymph fluid.

This massage technique is very gentle and uses a rocking motion to encourage your body’s fluid to move toward your lymph nodes where it can be processed and eliminated naturally through the body.

This is beneficial for pre and post-operation, during recovery from an injury, general inflammation, or when your immune system needs a boost.  It’s a great way to help your body feel & function at its best!

Some of the other benefits include:

  • Increasing the lymph capillary uptake, which means increasing the fluid uptake in cells into the lymphatic system
  • Increase in the lymph-agio activity that in turn that result in the stimulation of the lymphatic system just underneath the surface of the skin to help the fluid flow
  • It has relaxing & soothing effects that aid in pain relief
  • It aids in moving redirecting fluid from blocked areas into healthy lymph vessels.

When not to get Lymphatic drainage:

  • When you have an active infection
  • If you are dealing with congestive heart failure
  • If blood clots have been detected
